The situation we are currently in is new to all of us. But even in this day and age we try to provide the service as you would expect from us. Of course we keep a close eye on the developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and take measures if necessary. For Falko BV, protecting the health and safety of our employees, customers and suppliers remains a priority.
Following the RIVM guidelines, it has been decided that, if necessary, we will work from home to prevent coronavirus infection. As a result, it may be possible that we are slightly less accessible by telephone.
As you have come to expect from us, we send all our parcel shipments with DPD. DPD has also taken measures to prevent the spread of the virus. In addition to disinfecting the hand scanner, you as a customer can also issue a deposit authorisation. You can give digital permission for this, information about this can be found in the automatic track&trace e-mail you receive from DPD.
Pallet shipments are offered by Mainfreight. They too have taken measures and want to avoid personal contact as much as possible. In consultation with you as a customer, the driver will sign the CMR himself with the name of the recipient. If you are working with limited opening hours, please let us know so Mainfreight is not standing in front of a closed door.
So far we have not received any restrictions for deliveries from the carriers. We have noticed that the situation in a country can change quickly, keep this in mind.
Delivery times and prices
Not only in the Netherlands we are dealing with the virus, also in China and other countries in Asia the problems are still serious. Production has been at a standstill for a long time and is now slowly picking up again. However, factories are still far from fully operational, because not all personnel have returned yet. In addition, they have to deal with the supply of raw materials, which are currently scarce and often have to be purchased more expensive in order to be able to produce.
The sea freight costs are still stable at the moment. We take into account that this or late March or early April could be completely different. Because shipping companies use fewer export sailings, there will be less equipment in the Far East. As a result, there will be fewer sailings back to Europe and because production in China will be very slow again, the cargo flow will pick up strongly in a few weeks' time. All in all, this will result in a substantial increase in rates.
The above is still uncertain but could eventually result in higher prices and temporary stock shortages. We try to be as transparent as possible, the prices on our website (falkostore) are always up to date.
Furthermore, we wish all our customers, partners, carriers and other companies a lot of strength in the coming period. If there are any changes that affect our service, we will inform you immediately.
